SENDCO

(including secondment to SLT initially for one year)

Required from September 2021

Leadership Pay Scale L6 – L10 (£47,735 - £52,723)

Permanent, full time position.

Are you passionate about helping every child succeed and improve their life chances?

Are you prepared to work collaboratively for the benefit of young people?

Will you offer children the opportunity to experience “life in all its fullness” by doing what it takes, no matter what their starting point or challenges?

If so, Bolton St Catherine’s Academy would love to hear from you!

We have a permanent vacancy for a SENDCO to lead our large SEND provision from September 2021 which includes a 16 place ASD provision.

This is an exciting time to be joining us as we continue our journey of rapid and sustained improvement and development. In 2018 we joined the then recently formed Bishop Fraser Trust, a C of E multi academy trust, providing a great opportunity to work closely with the two outstanding schools in the MAT - St James’s C of E High School and Canon Slade School, sharing good practice and building on the significant progress that has been taking place over the past three years at BSCA. BSCA is a caring environment intent on delivering our school values and school vision for all our students.

We are looking for a leader who is passionate about designing and quality assuring provision for young people who face additional challenges.  The successful candidate will be caring, strategic, a good communicator and will be utterly committed to the students within their care and ensuring their success.

With the support of a large experienced SEND Team, an Assistant SENDCO and speech and language therapist, primary SENDCo and a strong Senior Leadership Team you will be shaping provision for our young people with SEND including a funded ASD provision, to ensure they are happy, safe and fulfilling their full potential from ages 3-16.

We are looking for an existing, qualified SENDCO who is ready for the challenge of leading a large SEND Department at a fully inclusive all- though school with an opportunity to shape whole school provision as a member of SLT.

The successful candidate will be:

• a well-qualified, highly motivated and enthusiastic SENDCO.

• someone who has excellent understanding of current research, legislation related to SEND and best practice in SEND provision;

• someone who has an excellent track record in their own work and in leading and inspiring others and leading change.

• someone who is pupil centred and motivates pupils to strive for excellence;

• a leader with a strong ethos and vision who demonstrates emotional intelligence, is solution focused and has the desire to continue the development of our strong team of staff;

• someone who is committed to their own professional development;

• someone who can quickly build rapport and effective professional relationships with both our young people and colleagues.

In return we can offer:

• the opportunity to work with our motivated, ambitious and caring students;

• a school culture that understands the importance of staff wellbeing and workload management;

• a supportive and encouraging staff team;

• an environment that is fast paced, exciting and innovative, where improvement is encouraged and change is actioned;

• a rigorous and motivational weekly programme of continuous professional development and a pathway to middle and senior leadership opportunities across the schools in the MAT;

• fantastic facilities;

• a long weekend at the end of each November in honour of Saint Catherine’s day (25th November);

• a laptop to use whilst in employment;

• a paid premium to a Healthcare Cash Plan to claim back contributions towards dental, optical and other medical costs;

• 24/7 access to an Employee Assistance Programme;

• access to a Cycle to Work Scheme.

The schools of The Bishop Fraser Trust aim to offer:

• a high quality, inclusive and distinctive education;

• a caring and nurturing environment based on our Christian values, recognising the uniqueness of each child.

To apply please complete the online Tes application form, ensuring in your application statement that you show how you meet items on the person specification and explaining why you are applying for this post. This must be no more than two sides of A4 size 12 font.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  The post is subject to child protection screening including an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service and also past employment checks.
