About the Role

We are looking for an exceptional leader, has

·         High expectations of pupils with severe and/or complex forms of special education needs.

·         A positive track record of significant impact in an outside of the classroom

·         Management experience and is able to further develop the faculty and teaching and support staff within it. 

·         Accepts that all pupils are entitled to a broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum, including the National Curriculum,            irrespective of age, gender, disability, race and religion.

·         Ability to adapt teaching strategies to changing circumstances and in response to new ideas and individual needs of pupils.

·         Ability to demonstrate best working practices, and to work alongside other teachers to increase their confidence and competence            in teaching pupils with severe and/or complex forms of special education needs.

·         Sensitivity to and professionalism in discussing and reporting individual learning and developmental difficulties.

·         Willingness to work with parent/carers and pupils to secure partnership in the learning process.

·         Willingness to work as part of a team within the class group, to support and develop work with Teaching Assistants and volunteers.

·         Ability to create friendly happy atmosphere where courtesy, self-control and regard for others prevail.

·         Ability to develop an atmosphere in which children are motivated to learn and where each child feels a valued member of the                 group.

The SEND faculty is a very strong team of 5 LSA’s/ TA’s with a range of specialisms. 

Full time teaching hours - Permanent contract

You will be a skilled professional, have a clear vision for curriculum and staff development, an excellent manager with good interpersonal, organisation and time management skills, who can bring your passion for teaching to all of our students and are passionate that all pupils are entitled to a broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum, including the National Curriculum, irrespective of age, gender, disability, race and religion.

Charnwood College is a mixed, non-selective, non-denominational, 11-18 academy with sixth form, situated in the west of Loughborough in Leicestershire. The academy is part of the David Ross Education Trust and is governed by a Local Governing Body.

The secondary academy has expressive arts facilities which include a dedicated music suite and dance and drama studio. In addition, its sports facilities include a floodlit, all-weather 3G sports pitch, a new sports centre, a 25-metre indoor swimming pool, a gym, a fitness suite, and extensive playing fields.
