Great Western Academy will open in North Swindon in September 2018 with students in years 7 and 12. This is a rare opportunity to take a key role in the founding team of staff that will shape the Academy from the very start. We are seeking a dynamic and inspiring individual who will help to drive the inclusive nature of the Academy so that all students make fantastic progress from day one.
The successful candidate will lead a small SEND team in our first year and oversee this team’s expansion as the Academy grows. This is a very flexible position. The SENDCo responsibility will be for 0.4 FTE in the first year; this role would therefore suit someone seeking a part-time position, or someone who can provide excellent teaching (in any subject) in addition to the SENDCo responsibility to make a larger part-time or full-time position.
Great Western Academy will welcome all students; the SENDCo will have responsibility for the promotion of our inclusive approach and for ensuring that all students with additional needs are fully supported with their learning. The successful candidate will have (or be studying for) a SENDCo qualification, and they will be able to demonstrate a strong track record of working with students, their parents, and a range of professionals within and beyond the school to ensure that every student is supported to make the best progress possible.
The reality of opening a new school is that middle and senior leadership roles will develop significantly as the Academy expands. This includes the expansion of our SEND provision, so the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their career very positively over the coming years.
Great Western Academy aims to radically improve the life chances of every student who attends. We will use our brand new building and state-of-the-art facilities to help achieve this, but it will be a fantastic team of new staff who will turn our vision into reality. If you have the proven ability to inspire and lead our inclusive approach in the classroom and beyond then we would be delighted to hear from you.
