Job overview

Montpelier Primary School is a large school in West London.  We were judged to be Outstanding by OFSTED in 2012 and were a National Support School until, in 2016, our designated status was raised to National Teaching School.  As such, we established the West London Teaching Alliance (WLTA).

With a diverse pupil demographic, we are seeking a highly-capable SENDCO who will lead on our SEND provision, developing and monitoring our strategies and their implementation. This is an opportunity to be part of a driven, cohesive and supportive Leadership Team.  The role is part-time, either 3 or 4 days per week and this is open to negotiation for the right candidate.

The applicant should be able to demonstrate an interest in continuing professional development and driving progress for pupils with SEND.

The successful candidate will be an experienced SENDCO already working in a primary school or someone who can bring other equivalent relevant primary experience to the role.  They will have an understanding of data and how best to monitor and interpret it in order to plan appropriate strategies.

We are looking for an effective communicator who will make a positive contribution to the school's vision, policy and strategies for identified groups of pupils, disseminating good practice and CPD for colleagues and for the wider education community.

The role requires a high degree of professionalism and resilience to navigate sometimes complex situations, combined with an awareness of, and sensitivity to, the priorities, concerns and goals of individual pupils and their families.

Our leadership team and wider school community is supportive and always strives to ensure that pupils gain access to the best quality teaching, leading to the highest possible outcomes.

Shortlisting will take place on the closing date.  Shortlisted candidates will be notified on the same day and interviews will take place in week commencing 12th June 2017.  The school reserves the right to meet early applicants before the closing date.

The school is committed to safeguarding children and the successful applicant will be required to apply for an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.  Prospective applicants are welcome to visit the school prior to applying. Please contact the school office to make arrangements.   CVs will not be accepted. Only applications on the application form will be considered.
