Abingdon House School is seeking an enthusiastic, committed and highly capable Senior Administrator and Head of HR to join the supportive and collaborative team in a flourishing independent school catering for students with special educational needs. The successful candidate will hold the responsibility in all aspects of HR, including recruitment and retention, succession planning, employee relations, policy development, organisational change and performance management and CPD.  On a rota basis with the other Senior Administrators, there would also be responsibility for the day to day office management of the school.

Abingdon House School is a unique and successful Independent Day School for children with Specific Learning Difficulties, aged 5-17. The school delivers holistic and integrated programmes of education, therapy and personal development for its students. The teacher occupies an integral role as part of the multi-disciplinary team. This team is comprised of Educators, Occupational, Physiotherapy, Music and Speech & Language Therapists and support staff.  


Position:   Senior Administrator and Head of HR (full time, permanent)

Location: Broadley Terrace, Marylebone, London, NW1 6LG

Salary: £26,000-£33,500 (depending on experience)

Start Date:  as soon as possible

Skills and Personal qualities required:  

  • Relevant qualifications and/or experience  
  • Excellent communication and administrative skills  
  • Excellent IT literacy including Google Suite, Student Management Information Services and external support systems such as Peninsula and Care Check
  • A proven track record of staff management, policy writing and review and working within or developing efficient systemic approaches
  • Previous experience in the education sector desirable  
  • Emotionally resilient and able to handle a busy and varied workload  
  • Good interpersonal skills with an ability to work collaboratively and relate to people at all levels  
  • Self-starter with a high level of time management and planning skills 
  • An ability to establish priorities, work independently and work without direct supervision on all routine matters
