The role

Methodist Ladies’ College is one of Australia’s most respected and innovative schools, with over 2,000 students from our Early Learning Centre to Year 12. 


An opportunity exists to join the highly regarded Boarding Leadership team at MLC’s Tiddeman Boarding House. The role of Senior Boarding Coordinator is a leadership position working closely with the Head and Deputy Head of Boarding. With specific responsibility for the oversight of Senior School Boarding students, their wellbeing and academic programs, the role also encompasses development of programs, connections with Day School and organisational and operational responsibilities. This position would ideally suit an experienced educator keen to develop their career in the field of Student Wellbeing Leadership. 


The MLC Boarding House (Tiddeman House) is a friendly and homely community where students from both local and rural Australia, together with international students feel safe and cared for in a supportive and well-structured environment. Boarding staff play a significant role in ensuring our boarders are motivated, enthused and valued. 

The position can include a teaching load of up to 0.3, the teaching component is dependent on the incumbents’ qualifications and background and needs of the College.?Alternatively, there is the opportunity for this to be a non-teaching position. Previous experience of working with students in a residential setting would be highly regarded.  

The Senior Boarding Coordinator is a residential role as regular overnight and weekend duties apply throughout the term. 

 

Some of your primary duties and responsibilities will include the following:

  • To work with the Head of Boarding to develop a culture of excellence in residential boarding programs. This includes contributing to building a positive sense of community for staff, students and parents and fostering an open and supportive working environment.
  • Supporting student leaders within Boarding House, monitoring and guiding them in their roles.
  • Attending weekly leadership meetings and discuss operational strategies.
  • Organising student leadership training course.
  • Monitoring IB CAS program within Boarding House
  • Liaise with Careers department to ensure Senior Boarders are supported.
  • Oversee charity and volunteering initiatives within the Boarding House.

About You

  • Experience working with secondary-aged girls.
  • Ability to live in a residential community and contribute to the wellbeing of each person.
  • Commitment to the education of Year 7 - 12 girls and an ability to create positive educational opportunities for students in a residential setting.
  • Proven leadership, management and administration skills.
  • Initiative, judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Collaborative team member.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with current learning and wellbeing theories and the ability to apply this in program planning and implementation in the student wellbeing program.
  • Current First Aid and Anaphylaxis qualifications
  • Current driving license
