Job overview

New City College is the dynamic group of further education colleges in East London which comprises Tower Hamlets College, Hackney Community College and from 1st April 2017, Redbridge College. All colleges in the group are graded Good by Ofsted, and our 3-college merger places the group at the forefront of further education in the region. With a turnover of £67m, 20,000 students and 1000 staff it is one of the strongest and most influential further education organisations in the country.

Our college environment is second to none. We have industry standard facilities and equipment at all campuses, expert staff and partnerships with other high profile organisations which all prepare students for progression to higher education or successful careers.

East London is dynamic, innovative and entrepreneurial. As we develop our longer term vision, we will continue to ensure that we invest in our staff and other resources to provide a distinctive offer and excellent, supportive learning environment which meets the needs of students and employers and prepares local people for the changing workforce of the area.

We offer a range of full time courses in our SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability) provision, which is a discrete area of courses specifically and individually designed for the additional and complex needs of students in this area aged 16-24 years old.  All courses have a focus on independent living skills, employability and English and maths skills, with our key focus being work experience and supported internship programmes.

We also offer part time courses for adults aged 25 years old and over, who are working towards greater independence, supported employment or skills development.

We have partnerships with local providers, schools and organisations which allow for a smooth transition from school to college and from college into the workplace.

Our results have improved significantly year on year and we assess ourselves as an outstanding curriculum area.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Senior Curriculum Manager to be responsible for a range of courses in our SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disability). Reporting to the Head of Faculty for Foundation Learning and English, Senior Curriculum Managers are second tier managers within our Faculty structure.  The core purpose of a Senior Curriculum Manager is to drive up standards and ensure an excellent student experience. You will have teaching responsibilities and will be expected to carry out line-management duties and classroom observations.

It is essential that candidates have a relevant degree or equivalent qualification, are teacher trained and would be desirable to have both management and teaching experience in this curriculum area.

Closing on Tuesday 18th April 2017 @ 12pm
Interviews will be held Friday 28th April 2017
