Job overview

Runnymede College is a leading coeducational British independent school in Spain, offering a British education to children of all nationalities from ages 2-18. Located just outside Madrid, Runnymede’s current roll sits at just under 1,100 pupils. Runnymede’s main aim is to provide an academically excellent, all-around liberal humanistic education to prepare its pupils for adulthood and help them thrive as members of an international community. The College believes children flourish best when their personal, emotional, and social needs are met, and pupils are rewarded for both effort and achievement on their journeys to becoming independent learners.

The College now seeks an outstanding Senior Deputy Head to join the leadership team. The Deputy Head will be responsible for managing the day to day running of the school and will deputise for the Head in his absence. The Deputy Head will play a key role in Runnymede’s leadership team, working closely with the Headmaster over all matters concerning the running of the school, including academic provision, pastoral care and welfare of pupils and staff. The Deputy Head will oversee the planning of the school calendar in consultation with the appropriate staff, and line manage Heads of Department and other senior staff as assigned by the Headmaster.

The successful candidate will bring a proven track record of leadership within an independent school setting, ideally at senior management team level, and will have experience of operating strategically at a whole school level. Experience of working in an all through school would be an advantage.
