We are committed to providing the very best education for our students and are seeking to appoint an exceptional Senior Deputy Headteacher who shares our unwavering commitment to raising standards across all areas of the academy for all groups of students. 

The successful candidate will play a significant part in accelerating the development of the academy into an outstanding provider of education for the local area. Your track record to date will clearly evidence the impact you have had as a senior leader in shaping whole school culture, as well as in raising achievement. 

First and foremost we are looking for a leader with the right skills and attributes to effect rapid school improvement. The successful candidate will have responsibility for a number of key strategic areas as well as be required to effectively carry out the full range of day-to-day operational duties. Specific responsibilities will be based upon the strengths of the successful candidate. You will be expected to readily build excellent relationships with students, staff and parents in order to ensure that the students thrive and achieve to the highest standards. 

We are seeking to appoint a person who:

• Has an outstanding track record in educational leadership with proven success and demonstrable impact.

• Is able to think strategically, analytically and creatively about school improvement and who has the personal authority and communication skills to make a difference.

• Has the vision, imagination and commitment to be part of a cohesive team that takes the school to ‘outstanding’.

• Is committed to the continuous improvement of people and systems.

Biddick Academy is a co-educational secondary school based in Washington, near Sunderland, for students aged 11-16. 

In 1997, Biddick was one of the first 11 schools in England to become a specialist sports college. The academy’s facilities include a sports hall, a dance studio, a fitness suite, a gymnasium, a full-size 3G pitch, floodlit tennis courts, a theatre and ICT suites.
