Northern Education Trust (NET) is a charitable education Trust with a good track record for school improvement. The Trust sponsors 21 academies; 11 secondary and 10 primaries across the North of England in eleven Local Authority regions.

An important part of the Trust’s strategy for school improvement is to increasingly grow the capacity for specialist outstanding practitioners. We are now looking to increase our team of outstanding practitioners in mathematics and at the same time appoint a senior director to line manage the work of the wider maths director team. This role will be suited to someone who has a passion and knowledge of teaching mathematics across the secondary age range and who can work closely with teachers coaching and mentoring to develop classroom practice and pedagogy.

Reporting directly to the Senior Executive Principal, you will be responsible for ensuring that the trust mathematics framework is consistent across every secondary academy. This will be underpinned by our vision ‘We constantly focus on standards as we understand outcomes are paramount. Our decision making is driven entirely by what is best for our children. By doing this, we enhance the life chances of the children and young people in our care’.

Line managing and instructing our team of highly skilled directors, you will have responsibility for leading on development of teaching and learning within mathematics across the Trust. You will be an outstanding teacher, with a track record for excellent maths outcomes for students, who is able to demonstrate exceptional leadership skills and be able to role model best practice. You will be passionate about providing quality education to students regardless of their background to ensure that they all receive the best quality education that they deserve. You will ultimately be accountable for secondary mathematics outcomes at the end of Key Stage 4 and 5 for the whole Trust. In order to successfully impact on outcomes you will work with the Senior Executive Principal to determine the deployment of the wider director team and the strategic implementation of all aspects of the maths curriculum.

This role will be ideal for someone who absolutely loves teaching students but wishes to take the next step forward in their career development. Working across more than one academy will give you the opportunity to develop as a leader whilst also broadening your knowledge and skills. At Northern Education Trust, we have the most fantastic team who are keen to learn and share ideas.

Regular travel across the Trust Academies will be necessary in supporting curriculum leadership and teacher development throughout the Trust.

Informal discussions are encouraged; please contact Michael Robson (Senior Executive Principal) at m.robson@northerneducationtrust.org to arrange a call or a meeting.

The Trust is committed to safer recruitment practice and pre-employment checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed. All posts are subject to enhanced disclosure and barring service checks. We expect all adults to share our commitment to safeguarding and the health and well being of our pupils.
