About our unique city and Council
Brighton & Hove is a great place to live, learn and work. Our diverse and vibrant community is passionate about our city. There’s a shared commitment to celebrating and promoting all that makes Brighton & Hove so unique.
We are proud that 59 out of 64 schools are maintained by the Local Authority and we are equally committed to our academies and free schools ensuring that we work in close partnership with all. Through successful joint working arrangements such as the Brighton & Hove Education Partnership, our education and skills team has helped ensure that the city has remained well above the national average in most national academic performance indicators for a number of years. Currently 89.1% of primary schools and 100% of secondary schools are judged good or outstanding by Ofsted. Early Years services are excellent and our levels of NEET are low. In these unprecedented times, we continue to have very high expectations for all our pupils and are working quickly and creatively to support our schools.
