Job overview
Thank you for your interest in the post of Senior HLTA.
About our Trust
We are a Trust of nine schools, all based in South-East London. Whilst each of our schools maintains its individuality, we share a common mission: to ensure that every single child and young person in our care is successful at school so that they can flourish and be successful in their lives.
Our mission is simple – we want pupils to ‘Become their best at Borough’ in all aspects of their lives. We have the highest aspirations for each young person we work with and strive to help them to fulfil their potential.
Our Academy values, which were created by our young people, speak to that. We expect our learners to become excellent ambassadors for their community, by working hard to achieve their aspirations, whilst becoming kind and resilient citizens.
Our location in the centre of the capital allows us to provide a unique take on the curriculum, making the most of partnerships with world leading organisations which enrich and enhance our offer. In all areas of the curriculum, we aim to ignite a spark which enables our young people to become scholars of their chosen subject disciplines.
About the Role
Senior HLTA will have oversight of:
· Maintaining an accurate provision map for the department using Edukey Provision Maps.
Expanding how we use the software to track progress and financial efficiency as well as
ensuring that records are up to date
· Ensuring that students with an EHCP are reviewing the provision they are entitled to and
tracking progress · Reviewing student assessment reports (eg. SALT, CAMHS etc) and ensuring that students are receiving the support they are entitled to within the capacity of the school
· Oversight of the work of specialists (internal and external) including monitoring their case load, tracking progress and reviewing impact
· Ensure that our provisional offer meets the needs of our students, and that the provisions are evidenced based, and staff have the correct training to deliver them.
About You
We are looking for a passionate and Senior HLTA, who is keen to make an impact. You will play a role in ensuring that students’ SEND provisions are regularly reviewed and effectively implemented. This includes meeting with parents for provision reviews, working alongside Heads of Year to assess provisions, and ensuring that new students, including Year 7 arrivals, receive the appropriate support based on information from their previous settings and professional reports.
You will also be actively involved in the Year 6 transition process, attending primary school meetings and transition day activities as needed. Familiarity with the Southwark Local Offer and supporting the annual review process for some EHCP holders are also key responsibilities.
Staff Development
Our staff are important to us. We know that without great staff, our young people will not be as prosperous. Therefore, Professional Learning is key to our success. As a new employee within the Trust, you will be supported by the Senior Directors of People and Professional Learning, alongside your line manager to realise your full potential.
Our People Strategy is key to our success, and integral to our commitment to equity, equality, diversity, and inclusion . Bringing this to life is the responsibility of every member of staff. We take seriously any behaviour which undermines it. Anyone applying to work with us, should share this commitment.
Equality and Diversity:
We recognise the benefits of a diverse workforce. We are committed to eradicating discrimination in the workplace, becoming an employer of choice, for all staff to believe that they have a voice and be empowered to make a difference.
Safeguarding
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we expect all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment. This post falls within the scope of regulated activity. Appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS with list checks (and other relevant checks.) It is an offence to apply for the role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity with children.
