Due to continued growth and success, The Laurus Trust is looking to appoint a pro-active and dedicated Senior IT Technician to support all schools within the Trust. Support staff work tirelessly to ensure all services run smoothly and efficiently, enabling our teaching staff to focus on delivering an outstanding education for our students.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day work of the IT Helpdesk, taking responsibility for the daily administration and operations of the department
  • Provide proactive 2nd line level support - prioritise daily support tasks, respond and follow‐up support requests
  • Ensure that IT Support staff complete customer requests within targets defined in any Service Level Agreement
  • Carry out installation, maintenance, integration/configuration and/or troubleshooting of ICT system, network equipment and Infrastructure, PCs, applications, AV equipment, projectors, third party software and peripherals
  • Assist in the testing of the Disaster Recovery plan, ensuring that all activities are carried out according to the documentation
  • Identify failing systems and suggest solutions.
  • Act as an initial escalation point for IT Technicians and/or customers with complex queries
  • Allocate and coordinate work to IT Technicians
  • Use statistics software packages to collate, analyse and report Help Desk performance results
  • Encourage and ensure knowledge sharing within the team and wider Central Services Team
  • Provide staff with information regarding incidents, problems and service outages
  • Ensure that appropriate escalation routes are followed for issues raised
  • Support day-to-day operations and maintenance of Network and Wireless Infrastructure, Print management, mobile devices, Trust backup solution, anti-virus protection and workstation security procedures and its documentations
  • Promote safe and responsible use of the internet for all staff and students, including social media
  • Work closely with the IT Managers on continuous policy development, processes and Standard Operating Procedure reviews, developing and delivering skills training to wider team and any other tasks required

Key Skills & Experience

  • Must have a sound educational background including GCSE’s Maths and English (A*-C) or equivalent
  • Ideally be trained to an MCSA level in Desktop and/or Server technologies, or an equivalent standard
  • Must have direct experience in an IT Support/helpdesk environment
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe CC and other relevant IT packages
  • Experience of using Windows, Mac OS or Linux operating systems
  • Technical knowledge of computer hardware, diagnosing & troubleshooting
  • Prior experience of working in a school environment would be highly advantageous
