Sha Tin College is seeking to appoint a Senior Leader - Quality Assurance to start in August 2025 to ensure quality assurance practices are developed, implemented, maintained and reviewed. Such practices are critical for ensuring high quality teaching and learning, that students are making progress, that our programmes are well-conceived, documented and high quality, and that anomalies in practice or outcomes are identified and addressed.
The Senior Leader - Quality Assurance is a member of the Senior Leadership Team, working in partnership with all levels of school leadership and teachers, as well as ESF colleagues. This role will contribute to strategic enhancement and development in learning and teaching across the school, in line with STC Purpose, Values and Priorities.
Job Specifications:
- Collaborate with leaders, teachers and students to develop a quality assurance ecosystem that allows us to answer the question - How do we know?
- Develop tools and systems to support leaders and teachers towards a culture of quality assurance
- Develop practices and routines to support a culture of sharing best practice, encouraging teachers to reflect on their practice and share their success
- Lead quality assurance practices that evidence high quality learning experiences and outcomes for students and facilitating the monitoring and evaluation of teaching and learning
- Lead learning walks and instructional rounds and provide feedback to further enhance staff professional development
- Research best practice in pedagogy, assessment and curriculum and lead discussion and debate of such research
- Facilitate opportunities for connection with/between schools and provide support where needed
- Work with ESF Quality Assurance processes to support quality assurance across the Foundation
- Facilitate ongoing professional learning, CPD days and professional sharing
- Manage the professional learning application and approval process in line with STC Professional Learning Guidelines
- Plan annual professional learning schedule that aligns and supports strategic direction
- Provide opportunities for staff training to be cascaded and shared
- Maintain systems that track staff training
- Recommend appropriate professional learning and ensure staff are undertaking regular professional development
- Manage the professional learning budget to ensure effective resource allocation
- Represent STC at ESF Professional Learning meetings
- Support a climate of mutual trust where professional collaboration, discussion, debate and innovation are promoted and can flourish
- Manage staff Performance, Reflection and Development (PRD) processes inline with ESF systems and processes
- Promote and support structures that encourage staff to be reflective of their practice and active in their professional growth
- Plan New Staff Induction programme ensuring new teaching staff are effectively onboarded and supported with understanding systems and practices to ensure a strong start at STC
- Commence communication with the New Teaching Staff group in Term 3, and upon appointment with individual new teaching staff
- Ensure STC New Teaching Staff Induction aligns and complements ESF New Teaching Staff Induction
- Attend the ESF New Teaching Staff Induction day and the follow-up team building day
- Ensure new staff are effectively mentored and provide support and training for those mentors
- Work with the Heads of Faculty to ensure Term 1 lesson observations of new staff are completed
- Work with newly trained permanent teachers, less than four years experience, to ensure continued professional growth and support in line with our Early Career Teacher programme
- Manage Practicum Teacher and Internship placements at STC
- Ensure all applicants are appropriately vetted and approved in line with STC and ESF protocols
- Facilitate effective on-boarding for successful applicants
- Ensure STC Practicum Teacher mentors are active and effective in their role
Personal Specifications & Core Competencies:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (orally and written) with a view to empowering others
- Tactful, diplomatic and kind, in interactions with others
- Excellent organisational skills and timely follow-up
- Excellent negotiation, collaboration and problem-solving skills with an action-oriented and solution-focused attitude and able to make quality decisions
- Experience in leading, monitoring and evaluating teaching and learning
- A sound practical knowledge of curriculum development and pedagogical expertise
- Solid ICT skills
- Previous demonstrated leadership skills will be an asset
- Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Manage ambiguity
- Plans and aligns work to achieve common goals
- Demonstrates courage and resilience
- Maintains a positive attitude and remains open to feedback
