This Job Description gives an indication of tasks to be performed within a specific area.
Job Purpose: To be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day reactive maintenance and support, and deputise for, when required, the Estates Manager | Responsible to: The Estates Manager
Key Tasks
To allocate maintenance tasks and day-to-day jobs to members of the Estates team, and manage various maintenance contracts as assigned by the Estates Manager
To manage the maintenance, caretaking and security staff, and to be responsible for arrange duties and rotas for special events and staff absence cover including holidays
To be responsible for the day to day inspection of the premises as part of on-going maintenance
To perform general caretaking and maintenance duties as required
To manage estate-related job requests and provide feedback on progress to customers by phone or the ‘help desk’ computer system
To manage contracts and budgets as assigned by the Estates Manager
To order supplies in order to maintain the necessary stock of appropriate resources
To oversee and liaise with contractors on site
To ensure rapid responses to all requests that require immediate action due to high risk/College priority
To oversee the utility services to the buildings (boilers, water, electricity etc) and taking and recording monthly meter readings
To ensure that all caretaking equipment is in a safe and working condition and arranging for their repair as appropriate
To ensure all check logs are completed to schedule
To liaise with staff regarding layout and organisation of rooms
To ensure, working with the Cleaning Supervisor, that the campus appears very attractive and well-maintained at all times
To support the Estates Manager in maintaining the security of the campus including out-of-hours call-out
Other duties that are in accordance with the purpose/grade of the post as agreed with the Vice Principal Resources

Priestley College is a founder member of The Challenge Academy Trust (TCAT) which currently consists of 9 schools and the College, working together to deliver a cohesive education pathway from primary through to sixth form.
We are an inclusive college with a consistent record of high achievement. We offer around 70 A-Level and Vocational courses and we are a college of several firsts.

In 2021 Priestley retained its matrix accreditation after an inspection found the quality of advice and guidance it provided met the internationally-recognised standard.
There are now over 2000 students at Priestley with the latest investment a £1.5M technology centre that boasts more than 200 computers. The Crescent Building has also been extended to provide extra café and study space whilst the Performing Arts facilities have been modernised. More than £15M has been invested in the campus since 1999 on projects including the Learning Resource Centre and an all-weather sports pitch.
Priestley’s growth in numbers has also gone hand in hand with increasing the range and scope of provision as well as significant improvements in quality.
By responding to student demand and national curriculum development, we have been able to broaden the choice by offering new curriculum lines.
