Leeds School Improvement Service has a reputation for excellence across the local region. The team works closely with Head teachers, school governors and a range of LA services and external partners to secure the best possible educational outcomes for our children and young people.

We are looking for an excellent candidate to strengthen our team and be a key player in our ongoing improvement journey.

The successful candidate will become one of three senior advisers working with our school networks, multi academy trusts and individual schools. As a primary lead within the Learning Improvement team, the post will have a specific focus on co-ordinating and managing the work of the 7-11 phase.


Applicants will:

  • Be able to demonstrate success in leading and supporting school improvement e.g. as a head teacher / senior leader in a Good or better school, or have worked successfully as a local authority adviser/school improvement consultant.
  • Show a deep understanding of how to implement robust performance management and reporting through effective management information systems which meet statutory requirements.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of our Child Friendly City ambition and the voice and influence of children and young people that underpins this vision.
  • Be able to communicate their own vision for improving the quality of leadership in Leeds primary schools, and in particular those schools in challenging circumstances.


The post is based at Adam’s Court but involves travelling across the city region and some working outside of normal office hours to meet the needs of the schools.
