Job overview

Le Régent College is a British International boarding and day IB World School for students aged 4 to 18 in the Swiss Alps town of Crans-Montana. Through a rigorous approach to teaching and learning, and a rich weekend programme, the school produces well-rounded, internationally-minded young men and women. It is governed by four school principles: Courtesy, Compassion, Creativity and Courage

From Reception to Year 11, we teach a curriculum which is based on the British National Curriculum. It leads to GCSE and IGSCE; it is followed by the International Baccalaureate (IB) syllabus in the last two years of secondary school. We started teaching the IBDP in September 2018 and the first cohort of IB students will graduate in the summer of 2020.

What sets Le Régent College apart from other international boarding schools?

Our warmth and empathy; readiness to give time, attention and caring support to each and every student; the incredible mountain setting and safe haven we live in; and the genuine family atmosphere we provide. Our teachers, tutors, house parents and boarding teams are not only extremely able people, but they live and breathe our four core values of Courtesy, Compassion, Creativity, and Courage.

The school is ideally located in the heart of the Swiss Alps in Valais. Crans-Montana is a vibrant mountain city that sits high above the valley on a natural plateau, a geographical feature that offers  the feeling of living on "the roof of the world".

We are looking for 2 outstanding House Parents  (a couple) to look after our splendid cohort of Senior boarding girls. The 2 House Parents are jointly responsible for the welfare, guidance and discipline of the Senior girls placed in their charge, however, one of them is a non-teaching staff position. They are expected to know the children in their House and fulfil the basic responsibilities of the role. Teaching loads are reduced to approximately two thirds of a full teaching time-table. Currently the expected teaching load is 18 (45 minute) periods per week. This is a residential post, and generous accommodation is provided for the House Parents in the House. Apart from the general and overall responsibility of ensuring the welfare, smooth running and organisation of the House, House Parents are expected to carry out their duties in a spirit of cooperation, collegiality and open communication with the Deputy Head, fellow House Parents, and the College’s administration.

The candidates must have experience in House parenting. We can offer the unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic team, building a first-class school in the Swiss Alps.

Caring, inspirational, reflective, creative and experienced candidates with a sense of adventure are welcome to apply. Please address your cover letter to Mr Didier Boutroux, Head Master. On-site interviews will take place on 4th - 5th February 2019.

Salary and Benefits

· CHF 130,000 for the couple

· Pension scheme

· Relocation expenses

· Free education for children, as day students
