From August 2019 Dulwich College Yangon will be the first international school in the country to offer a boarding provision for local and overseas students, situated at its Star City campus. Boarding will be offered to girls and boys in Years 7 to 10 (growing upwards as the school develops). Along with Dulwich College and its nine sister schools in Asia, Dulwich College Yangon (DCY) upholds the traditions and outstanding educational and boarding standards which have become the hallmark of the Dulwich name in the UK and Asia.
Therefore we are looking to appoint two experienced and enthusiastic house parents to set up and run this pioneering venture.
They should be highly resourceful, collegially minded and forward-thinking professionals who have prior experience of boarding in the UK or overseas. At least one of the applicants must have a minimum of 3 years teaching experience, preferably teaching the English National Curriculum/(I)GCSE programme. This applicant should hold a Bachelor’s degree in education, or a first degree plus a post-graduate qualification in education (i.e. PGCE). Applications from teaching couples are welcome.
In return the successful candidates will be working in outstanding, purpose built facilities equipped with quality resources, set within Yangon’s award-winning Star City residential complex. The top quality boarding accommodation is located within a 10 minute walk of the Star City campus and provides a great opportunity for the house parents to shape the future of boarding at the school and establish the first offering of its kind in the country.
The boarding house and school are 30 minutes away from downtown Yangon. The College itself boasts the best sports facilities in the country, with a 50m Olympic swimming pool, a training pool, a double gym, extensive sports pitches and access to an outstanding golf course.
The Houses Parents will receive an attractive salary and a fully competitive overseas benefits package, including annual flight allowance, accommodation, freight allowance, comprehensive medical insurance, free tuition for up to two children at the school and enhanced levels of professional development across the Dulwich College International family of schools.
This is an unique opportunity to make a difference in a newly established boarding facility. Dulwich College Yangon is also committed to using its position to actively engage with the local community and help contribute to the development of the country outside of the school.
The closing date for the post is 2nd January.
Your application should include a brief cover letter, a CV and a statement of your educational philosophy. Interviews will take place online via skype, or in Yangon.
