Description This position will be a permanent full-time role working 38 hours per week as of 28th January 2020.



The role, Senior School Officer exists to provide:


• assistance and loyalty to the Principal in the daily operation of the school, providing a wide variety of complex and confidential administrative and secretarial support


• development of effective workplace relationships between support staff and teaching staff and effectively coordinating daily work distribution for support staff, to ensure that the duties are accomplished in a time effective and time efficient manner


• coordination and implementation of enrolment processes and procedures


• coordination and implementation of online databases such as Compass and TechnologyOne


• integration, cross matching and checking the integrity of data across a variety of school data bases


• preparation of programs, data and materials for academic reporting


• organisation and preparation of relevant archive material


• uploading and checking of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) data as directed by the Assistant Principal


• supervision and organisation of Census Data


• preparation of relevant documentation
Position Requirements Essential Criteria:


• support the ethos of Catholic education


• minimum of Certificate III in Business Administration or Frontline Management or demonstrated ability in a similar role


• excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft written communications on behalf of the Principal


• ability to work in the unique environment of a Foundation school with competing demands, interruption and where tasks need to be prioritised


• proven knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office


• ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member, with the capacity to build and maintain effective relationships and lead support staff


• personal qualities such as loyalty, flexibility, initiative and resourcefulness and capacity and commitment to maintaining a high level of confidentiality


• attention to detail and high level of accuracy


• exercise substantial responsibility, independent judgement and initiative with a detailed knowledge of complex office procedures
Desirable Criteria • an understanding and previous experience in a school environment

• previous experience with programs: Compass, TechnologyOne

Conditions of EmploymentSalary is in accordance with New South Wales & Australian Capital Territory Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2017. This position is paid at a Level 6.

The Catholic Schools Office (CSO), is responsible for the leadership, efficient operation and management of systemic schools which educate more than 18,000 students in 45 Primary schools, 10 Secondary schools and one K-12 school in the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.
