St. John’s School

Senior School Principal

St. John’s School (SJS) is a co-educational independent school in Vancouver, and home to 570 students from Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12, 325 of whom are in the Senior School (grades 6 to 12). A vibrant, warm, and welcoming community, the School provides an environment where all are encouraged to be their best and everyone belongs. St. John’s values courage, curiosity, integrity, respect, and wellness and develops confident life-long learners who make a difference in their communities. An International Baccalaureate World School (PYP, MYP, and IB diploma), with small class sizes, diverse co-curricular activities, and a genuinely caring environment, St. John’s is a flourishing, happy, and healthy school. With the retirement of the current Senior School Principal after 15 years of outstanding leadership, there is a tremendous opportunity to build on SJS’s many strengths and to take the Senior School to the next level of excellence.

Reporting to the Head of School, the Senior School Principal will be a key member of the SJS senior leadership team, with comprehensive responsibility for all activities involving students and faculty in the Senior School. The Principal provides the leadership to ensure a healthy, safe, and dynamic learning environment in which both staff and students may best grow and develop.

SJS is seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic educational leader, at the forefront of innovative approaches to teaching and learning, to support and engage senior division faculty and staff in striving for excellence in all areas. The Principal will be a strong relationship-builder and will actively collaborate and connect with all members of the SJS community. The new Senior School Principal will bring a track record of leadership and administrative experience, ideally earned in an independent school. They will join a School that is well-governed, financially secure, staffed by highly motivated and committed teachers and staff, and embraced by enthusiastic students and supportive parents. Knowledge of the International Baccalaureate will be considered an asset.

Consideration of candidates will begin in December 2022, with the new Principal to take office in the summer of 2023. Applications are encouraged immediately at www.odgersberndtson.com/en/careers/18524. Inquiries should be directed to Julia Robarts and Priya Ganesh at sjs@odgersberndtson.com.
