The de Ferrers Trust is a Multi Academy Trust comprising three Secondary Academies and four Primary Academies, currently based in Staffordshire and Derbyshire.
Our vision is to ensure the children and young people in our care have the opportunity to fulfil their potential through achieving highly, regardless of their ability or background. We aim to achieve this vision through:

About Our School
We are proud to base our approach to learning on an “Aspire and Achieve” ethos. We benefit from a strong local reputation which is the reason we have increased our admission number to 410. Our expansion has been facilitated by the acquisition of a third site for our popular Sixth Form in the town centre. This has led to a re-organisation of our students, with Year 7 and Year 8 educated at the Dove Campus and Years 9-11 at the Trent Campus, which are half a mile apart.
We were delighted by our January 2017 Ofsted inspection which emphasised the outstanding aspects of our work, including high levels of progress and attainment. We value our staff team, and this is reflected in the wide range of professional development opportunities which are offered both internally and externally. In recent years, we have developed an international reputation for learning technologies, becoming both an Apple Distinguished School and Regional Training Centre; we provide a 1-to-1 iPad programme for all students in Year 9 - Year 13.
The de Ferrers Academy has an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven individual to join the Science Department. The position will be 37 hours per week, term time only.
This post offers a varied and rewarding role within the Academy, working under the guidance of senior staff providing technical support/expertise to the Science Faculty. Duties will include:
- Preparation of materials as directed, distribution of apparatus and clearing away equipment;
- Setting up and trying out experiments prior to lessons, assessments and examinations;
- Assisting staff in practical lessons, preparation of teaching aids, maintaining apparatus;
- To deputise for the Lead Science Technician;
- To deputise as Health & Safety representative for the Science Faculty, and attend Health & Safety meetings as required;
- To assist with Line Management of Science Technicians.
Qualifications or equivalent experience at NVQ 3 in Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities (LATA) Educational or NVQ3 Laboratory Technicians working in education or C&G Advanced Science Technician would be an advantage.
