Senior Science Technician

The Senior Science Technician and the technical team play an important role in the delivery of high quality teaching and learning within the science department. It is expected that they will make a significant contribution to the continued success of students at all key stages.

• Manage and coordinate the work of other technicians to meet the needs of the department including the allocation of responsibilities / duties

• Liaise with and provide advice and support to teaching staff in the preparation and delivery of lessons or development of new units for the National Curriculum

• Establish and maintain contact with appropriate bodies and organisations as required

• Manage agreed budget(s) in accordance with school policies and procedures

• Ensure the maintenance and first line repair of science equipment, authorising repair by outside contractors or replacement where necessary

• Ensure all equipment and materials are prepared for demonstration purposes or for use by teaching staff and pupils

• Ensure that all equipment and laboratories are cleaned and cleared after use including chemical spillages

• To work alongside Key Stage Co-ordinators in the development of the science curriculum relating to practical sessions

• To assist as required in after school practical sessions with adult learners
