Job overview

We are looking to appoint a Senior Science Technician to prepare equipment for lessons in Biology, Chemistry and Physics from Year 7 to 11. As Senior Science Technician, you will support the delivery of the science curriculum across the school by providing practical day-to-day support in the learning environment and to ensure that the classrooms and display boards are up to date. You will prepare teaching materials as required to ensure effective support for teaching staff in the science department.  You will be responsible for all preparation rooms and laboratories in the faculty, including safety checks and the clearing away and washing up of apparatus from lessons. The successful candidate will . Ideally you be educated to degree level or above, but have at least one Science 'A' Level, or an NVQ or other specific lab technician qualification. You will also have previous experience as a lab technician. The Science labs have been updated as part of a recent refurbishment programme, so the facilities are very good. 

We are looking for someone who understands the difference a great education can make to pupils lives, will be a great role model for not only them but other members of staff too. You enjoy being part of a great team and you have a genuine passion and belief in the potential of every student.

• have experience in a similar capacity.

• be a confident, organised, pro-active individual who is able to prioritise their time and have the ability to work on their own initiative.

• be enthusiastic and passionate about helping students.

• have excellent inter-personal/networking skills

• have good attention to detail

• have good listening skills.

Haven High Academy is an oversubscribed,  co-educational, non-denominational secondary in Boston, Lincolnshire. The school is a member of the Voyage Education Partnership.  As of the most recent inspection there were nearly 1,500 students on the school roll.
