Here at The Costello School we know the importance of our people and how their work increases the life chances of the young people we serve. The role of Senior Science Technician is integral to the smooth operation of the school and the enhanced opportunities we give to our students.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the management and operation of a large science preparation room and the provision of comprehensive scientific technical support for a team of highly motivated science teachers in our Science department, delivering all aspects of the curriculum at both KS3 and KS4. The Senior Science Technician will also have line management responsibility for Science Technicians within the department.
The successful candidate will need significant scientific knowledge, as well as excellent planning and time management skills to efficiently carry out the following responsibilities:
• operation and maintenance of the well-stocked and equipped preparation room
• timely and effective preparation and delivery of substances, equipment and resources
• controlling stock and placing orders are to ensure all teaching and learning needs are met
• providing support during lessons particularly with teacher led experiments
The successful candidate will have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. They will have had experience of managing a team and COSHH experience is also desirable.
