The Gateway Academy is part of the larger Gateway Learning Community (GLC): a partnership of local primary and secondary schools committed to working together to achieve the highest educational standards for the whole community and is a friendly school that values teamwork and high achievement in all areas of our work with young people.

The position requires a competent person, who is a good team member, organised, flexible, reliable and with sound inter-personal, ICT and communication skills. Experience of working as a technician with a good understanding of health and safety practices in a school setting would be an advantage.

The successful applicant will be expected to:

  • maintain the science prep room area is in good order;
  • manage the science department budget for equipment and materials spend;
  • effectively support the teaching staff in the preparation of practical lessons and during lesson time;
  • Provide practical support for all three sciences;
  • Effectively support the Head of Science and Science Teachers;
  • Implement health and safety procedures;
  • Carry out any necessary risk assessments;
  • Prioritise workload and deadlines;
  • Be flexible in dealing with day-to-day occurrences.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience using databases and spreadsheets;
  • Is able to work well under pressure in a busy environment;
  • Has a very good standard of education; Maths and English GCSE grades A - C, or equivalent;
  • Is willing to be trained in first aid;
