We are delighted to invite applications for the post of Senior Site Officer for Pioneer House High School part of the Prospere Learning Trust. 

Pioneer House High School is a small, friendly, and Ofsted rated 'outstanding' school in a beautiful new building in South Manchester. The school has a unique focus in preparing pupils from age 11 to become independent and productive young adults. Our pupils, all of whom have severe learning difficulties.  Through our engaging applied learning curriculum focus, carefully structured programmes and highly effective teachers Pioneer House provides an outstanding and stimulating educational experience for every student. The rapid growth of this innovative school will offer the post holders ample opportunities for skill development and progression over the next few years through training and support. 

The Senior Site Officer will work alongside and support another site officer in school and take a lead role as the senior member of the site team. The Trust has a wider site team who will be available for support and allows for potential future career development should this be of interest to the candidate. 

Full time (35hrs) permanent role, working all year round with a starting salary of £23,023 to £25,927.

There are two shift patterns during term time  (early shift is 8am - 3.30pm  and late shift   10.30am - 6pm  ) but you will need to be able to work flexibly to support  either shift pattern to provide cover as required 

The successful candidate will have significant experience in a caretaker or similar role, with relevant Health & Safety certifications including First Aid, Fire Safety & Evacuation, Legionella Awareness etc.  

The main responsibilities of the Senior Site Officer are:       

  • To support the Site Manager by taking responsibility for the management of the school site and associated facilities under an agreed system of supervision, taking responsibility for the management and development of specialist facilities services within the school.       
  • To be a responsible key holder and manage maintenance, security and facilities systems on site including alarm systems, CCTV and surveillance systems.       
  • To manage other estates staff including allocation and monitoring of work and performance appraisal and supervision of external contractors on site.       
  • To be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and physical appearance/environment of the designated site – inside and out, including maintenance of specialist facilities and equipment following appropriate training, where applicable.       
  • To ensure that the premises operate to a high standard of health and safety and that all relevant regulations are implemented and adhered to at all times.

Pioneer House High School is a special school located in Northern Moor which provides 100 day places for 11 to 19 year old pupils, with a unique focus in preparing pupils with significant additional needs, to become independent and productive adults. The school has a strong vocational emphasis and pupils will have the potential to progress on to supported or independent employment/internships/apprenticeships or college.

The school was opened in 2016 and moved to a new, purpose built, site in 2017. It has a range of facilities including a one-bedroom bungalow, poly-tunnel, wooded area and play areas.

The school has been described as warm and welcoming by Ofsted, who completed their first inspection in May 2019, rating the school outstanding.
