Job overview

Slough and Eton is looking for a great teacher to join our Geography department as its new subject leader. Geography is the most popular GCSE subject at Key Stage 4 and we need a leader for the team who will enhance this further and develop the subject post-16.

We would like the successful candidate to lead the introduction of A-Level Geography in September 2020. The post also comes with whole school responsibilities for key areas of the school’s work such as coaching, supporting teaching and learning, research development, careers guidance, marketing the school or other opportunities that will be determined with successful candidate.

This is an attractive post for those who wish to prepare for senior leadership, develop their whole school leadership skills and comes with the opportunity for secondment to leadership team in the future.

The department is in a dedicated Humanities area and benefits from access to the latest Clevertouch interactive technology. The new leader of this team needs to be a qualified Geography teacher with a track- record of ensuring success at KS4. If that’s you then you will need to be hardworking, dedicated to ensuring students of all abilities can succeed and, crucially, a great classroom teacher. Previous experience of examination success at either KS4 or 5 is essential although there is no requirement to have taught post-16 previously.

Slough and Eton is a great school on the outskirts of Slough, which serves the Chalvey community. We are relentlessly focused on ensuring great teaching, learning and experiences are at the core of what we do.  It is an exciting time for us and our students are a pleasure to work with.

If you are interested in finding out more then please read the welcome letter from our Headteacher and feel free to visit the school in advance of applying.

We welcome applications from colleagues who may wish to be considered in a part-time/job share capacity and are happy to explore flexible working arrangements. We are, of course, committed to safeguarding the welfare of our students and staff and will conduct all necessary DBS checks as part of our recruitment process.

We look forward to hearing from you.
