Job overview

Senior Teacher/KS4 Lead full time from 16 April 2018.

Salary plus relevant allowances to be discussed at interview.

An opportunity has arisen within our outstanding school for a senior teacher/KS4 lead. We are a special school for KS3/4 students who have learning and additional needs with many of our students on the autistic spectrum. This role would involve being a member of the senior leadership team and would be particularly suitable for someone wanting to progress to a senior management role within the special school sector in the near future. This is an exciting time to join our vibrant school which has a relatively new senior leadership team full of exciting ideas and plans to drive the school forward into its next stage of development. You will be expected to teach a range of subjects, many of which will be at a primary level due to the needs of the students and also to undertake the role of form tutor. However, this role would suit both primary and secondary trained teachers. Experience of working with SEN students, pastoral support and an excellent track record of teaching is essential. Visits by potential applicants are essential.

We were graded outstanding by OFSTED in 2009, 2012 and 2016.

Closing date for applications noon 19 January 2018. Interviews week commencing 5 February 2018. Please see our website for the application form and job description.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. Enhanced DBS, Children’s Barred List and Right to work in the UK checks are required for this post.

About The Abbey School

The Abbey School is a strong and vibrant special school with places for just over 130 students aged 11-16 years who have learning difficulties and additional needs. Working in a special school is extremely rewarding, and our students continue to amaze us on a daily basis with their attitudes, achievements and behaviour.

We converted to Academy status on 1st September 2018 and are part of the Weydon Multi Academy Trust (WMAT), a dynamic, forward-thinking and innovative Trust. We are currently seven schools – three special schools and four secondaries within the Farnham, Godalming and Haslemere areas.

There are regular opportunities for collaborative working, CPD and the sharing of expertise between staff across the schools. There are also opportunities for staff to join a range of WMAT working groups to further their own continuing professional development.

It is a very exciting time to join our team as we move towards the next stage of our development within WMAT.
