Job overview
The Sensory Support Service in Cornwall has children and young people with sensory impairment (hearing, vision and multi-sensory impairment) from 0-25 at the centre everything we do! We enjoy fantastic working relationships with families, schools and education settings along with other professional colleagues. We are a peripatetic team and work in a wide range of specialist and mainstream settings across the county.
Due to the retirement of some of our long-term, experienced staff, there are exciting times ahead for us. If you are enthusiastic with a passion for working with children and young people with sensory impairment, we'd love to hear from you as we develop, grow and innovate!
The current opportunity available for September 2021;
1 FTE Senior Teacher of the Deaf (SEN £4479 + TLR £4890).
This enthusiastic leader will be part of the Sensory Leadership Team and manage a small team of sensory teachers. 0.7 of the week will involve holding a peripatetic caseload of taught and monitored children and young people whilst 0.3 will be for management duties. The role will be based in West Cornwall. There is an expectation that the teacher will gain a qualification in at least level 3 in British Sign Language (funded by the Sensory Support Service).
