Brantwood Specialist School is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ruskin Mill Trust and offers a unique, holistic and pupil-centred approach to the education and care of 7-19 year olds who have not succeeded in mainstream provision, many that an on the Autistic Spectrum. The school provides an educational experience based on the National and Steiner Waldorf Curriculum, embedding the RMT practical skills therapeutic educational curriculum with accredited qualifications.

Due to an increase in student numbers applications are invited for the following post, based at Brantwood Specialist School, Sheffield.

Senior Teacher (Post Sixteen Provision)

Grade 10 : 11, £32,548.00 - £38,883.00 per annum, starting salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.

Please note this role is employed for 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year with 33 days’ annual leave including bank holidays increasing to 38 with length of service.

In this role you lead the post sixteen provision of the school with regard to the student curriculum, staff performance and development including monitoring and addressing the quality of teaching and learning. 

You will support the leadership team of the school by ensuring high quality education for all its post sixteen students and the highest standards of learning, outcomes and achievement in accordance with statutory requirements, the objectives, vision and values, purpose and method of Ruskin Mill Trust.

The post holder will be expected to embrace, articulate and work with the School’s and Ruskin Mill Trust’s Objectives, vision and values, purpose and method, ensuring that the Ruskin Mill Trust’s paradigm of biodynamic agriculture, Anthroposophical medicine and practical skills therapeutic education, which is informed by Steiner Education, is maintained, implemented and integrated within the provision of the school.

The post holder will be required to hold a teaching qualification and have experience of teaching crafts, with ability to introduce a craft curriculum and lead on craft projects for the students in the post sixteen provision.

Ideally, the post holder will have a strong understanding of the pedagogical benefits of craft and role model outstanding teaching and learning opportunities for the students through practical skills therapeutic engagement. 

The successful applicant will take part in an interactive induction to experience the student journey, and will be required to attend one of the Ruskin Mill Trust Training Programmes; Ruskin Mill Trust Teacher Training Programme/Pedagogical Potential of Craft.
