Colston’s School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate Senior Theatre Technician from August 2017 to provide full technical support to the Drama Department. Drama at Colston’s is based in the Harry Crook Theatre which offers an exceptionally well-equipped, 200-seat auditorium for lessons, workshops and performances.

Colston’s is a thriving co-educational day school on the outskirts of Bristol. The Upper School occupies a glorious thirty acre campus and has all of its facilities on-site. It is easily accessible from the motorway network and with approximately 750 students aged from 3 to 18. 

The successful candidate will be a crucial part of the Drama team seeking excellence and further developing the Harry Crook Theatre into a thriving space for learning and performing.

They will provide support with all technical aspects of theatrical productions, workshops, rehearsals, practical examinations and drama lessons. They will need to have strong experience and skills in both sound and lighting design/ operation. This experience should also extend to the day-to-day running of a theatre, as well as set construction, stage management and using ICT proficiently. They will also work closely with our pupils to support their learning of design and technical theatre.

The hours for this role will be 40 hours per week during term time, half term holidays and 2 weeks of the summer holidays (one to be the last week of the summer holidays). The working hours will be 8am until 5pm with an hour unpaid for lunch/breaks. In addition, there will be an additional 120 hours of evening and weekend work to support productions.

You will receive a salary of £20,205 per annum (NJC pt 23 pro-rata for 0.95 FTE). Pro-rata paid holiday entitlement is 6.3 weeks each year including bank/public holidays.
