Orchard Hill College is an Outstanding Specialist College (Ofsted, November 2019) offering life-changing learning opportunities to young people and adults with a range of special education needs and/or disabilities. We have eight vibrant community based College Centres across London and Surrey where committed, specialist teams deliver a range of programmes to meet the needs of over 400 students.

Are you passionate about empowering and enabling students to get into the workplace? We are looking for a personable, motivated professional to work closely with our Work Start students. The role requires a self-starter who is able to build excellent links with potential employers, while upskilling students with SEND or barriers to learning to prepare them for the workplace.

We are looking for sessional tutors to teach;

• Functional skills maths and English Entry 1- Level 2

• Employability Qualifications Entry 1-Level 2

• Employability courses

• Job clubs

• Digital skills courses

Our Work Start Employability lecturers proactively support our students to develop job searching skills, to access work placements or voluntary/social enterprise work experience, to develop their functional English and maths skills, and ultimately, to progress into sustained employment.

If you have experience of working effectively with students with SEND or barriers to learning and you have the drive and tenacity to establish networks with external stakeholders, we would love to hear from you.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of having delivered functional skills sessions and employability lessons, ensuring that students with a range of learning difficulties, disabilities and barriers to learning from Entry 1 to Level 2 are supported in developing work skills to enable them to enter employment.

Our Lecturers manage and direct small teams to ensure effective, learner-centred teaching that meets the needs of adults with special educational needs or barriers to learning. This will involve consulting carers, therapists and personnel from Social Services, as well as internal colleagues.

Orchard Hill College is part of Orchard Hill College & Academy Trust, an established family of specialist academies and college centres that provide for over 1500 pupils and students with a wide range of learning abilities and additional needs.
