Short Term Teaching Contract To Cover Semester 2 LSL

Teaching Subject: ESL / EALD, English, Mathematics, Science, Visual Art

The College is now accepting expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced teachers to cover staff members on long service leave in Semester 2, 2020. Teaching areas required - a combination of the following: Science, Mathematics, English / EALD and Art / Visual Art.


Essential Criteria:

1. A demonstrated understanding of the ethos of a Catholic school and its mission.

2. Ability to plan, prepare and deliver teaching and learning programs to meet the diverse characteristics, needs and learning styles of students; which are consistent with relevant curriculum policies, work programs and education trends.

3. Knowledge of and the ability to implement effective and inclusive teaching and learning processes, including the use of learning technology and assessment, to establish a challenging learning environment in which students are encouraged to work towards attainment of their potential.

4. Ability to communicate effectively with students, their families and the wider community through appropriate interpersonal skills.

5. Ability to plan and apply appropriate behaviour management strategies that contribute to establishing and maintaining a supportive learning environment.

6. Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with school staff, parents and members of the local school community in order to establish and develop productive partnerships, in an intercultural environment to achieve optimal educational outcomes.

7. Commitment to maintain current and relevant professional learning and meet the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.

8. Registration for the Teacher Registration Board of the Northern Territory.

9. Northern Territory Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card).


Highly Desired Criteria:

1. Experience in delivering SACE Stage 1 and Stage 2 subjects.

2. Qualifications and/or experience in working with students from an EALD background.

3. The ability and willingness to teach across a range of subject areas.

4. Willingness to contribute to the co-curricular program of the College.
