The Bermuda High School (BHS), an International Baccalaureate World School, caters to students from the Early Years Programme (age 4) through to Year 13 (age 18). BHS is single-sex for girls, from EYP to Year 11. The IB Programme at BHS is co-ed in Years 12 and 13 (IB1/IB2). The School offers the International Primary Curriculum, the English National Curriculum through Key Stage 1-3, the (I)GCSE curriculum in Years 10 and 11, and the IB Diploma and Courses in the final two years of School. Students may also sit the SAT I and SAT II examinations in IB1/IB2.  At BHS we focus on the balanced learner, providing extensive opportunities for advancement in academics, the arts, athletics, community service and leadership development.

SIMS CO-ORDINATOR

The SIMS Co-ordinator will have the overall responsibility for SIMS. The successful applicant will lead on the management and development of the School’s database (SIMS) and support the strategic direction of the School in its use of data to inform teaching and learning.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Student Details

  • To enter and manage all student and staffing details and ensure that all details are accurate and up to date
  • To ensure there is confidentiality at all times in respect of school related matters and to prevent disclosure of confidential sensitive information in line with data protection legislation 

Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting

  • To lead on the importing and the exporting of results and information and check the integrity of this data
  • To oversee the production of analytical reports, in a range of appropriate formats to help inform decisions in both management and teaching and learning
  • To design, construct and maintain mark books in conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team
  • To design, extract and send student reports to parents and upload these to the students’ profile
  • To develop practices for staff to log student behaviour and contact with parents
  • To oversee attendance data and provide staff with the appropriate information

Training and Support

  • To train, advise and support staff in the use of SIMS and to evaluate and research new opportunities to increase its efficacy within BHS
  • To work closely with the Senior Team and Director of IT on all matters relating to SIMS
  • To be the primary contact with our vendor; keeping licenses up to date; installing upgrades as required and troubleshooting issues to do with the SIMS system and the use of it.
  • To work with IT support and the Firefly Coordinator in maintaining users and user accounts;
  • To provide training for staff to use SIMS effectively within their role
  • To manage and update the school website together with the Communications Manager
  • To carry out the end of year processes to promote the academic and pastoral systems in SIMS
  • To enable the timetable to be uploaded into SIMS from Timetabler, assign students to classes in SIMS and print individual timetables for staff and students.
  • To provide support in the process of organising staff cover and invigilation
  • To provide support in the process of student billing

The role requires the flexibility to work some additional hours on occasions to meet deadlines for the production of reports and other tasks. In addition, the role will require the undertaking of other duties commensurate with the level of the post from time to time. All applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree. The successful candidate will be required to have a minimum of three years SIMS experience in a school setting and be able to demonstrate their aptitude during an interview.
