Actual Salary: £17,377 - £20,361 pro rata per annum 

Full time equivalent salary: £19,698 - £23,080 (Grade 4)

About the role 

We are seeking to appoint an experienced Social, Emotional and Mental Health Learning Mentor and Thrive Practitioner to facilitate the educational progress across the school, of students with SEMH needs. This role will involve the development and delivery of the ‘Thrive Approach’, which is being newly set up in the school.

The postholder will work with students with SEMH needs, supporting their learning and assisting with their progress to obtain the maximum benefit from the school curriculum. 

The role will support the SENDCo / Assistant SENDCo providing strategies, interventions and develop social, emotional and mental wellbeing skills through bespoke programmes with students.  

We are looking for someone who:

• Holds a suitable relevant higher level qualification such as a degree

• Has willingness to undertake ‘Thrive’ Practitioner Training and maintain the accreditation by meeting of specific training targets

• Is able to network across other local and regional schools as part of the Thrive Local Network

• Has comprehensive knowledge of Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties and bespoke interventions and learning activities

• Has a good understanding of the needs and characteristics of students across the age range 11-19 in particular with SEMH difficulties

• Has recent experience of working with young people, either in a school setting, or involvement in voluntary work in the field of SEMH

• Is experienced in  using a range of computer packages including Microsoft Office

• Is confidence to work in a challenging environment and work under pressure handling situations with patience and sensitivity

• Has proven excellent communication skills.
