Candidates will need to offer Spanish and French to GCSE level and either Spanish or French to A Level.  The ability to offer German to KS3 would also be an advantage though this is not essential.

Great Barr Academy is sponsored by Shaw Education Trust. We are based in north Birmingham and have a large, diverse and vibrant community of students. We have a well-established and very successful Sixth Form.

Our MFL Department delivers German, French and Spanish at KS3 and:

  • GCSEs in German, French and Spanish (AQA)
  • A Levels in French, German and Spanish (AQA)

The department organises regular overseas visits to give the children the opportunity to develop their language skills in a real context. The department includes mother-tongue Language Assistants in French, German and Spanish.

Applications welcome from experienced MFL teachers with a track record of teaching consistently good and outstanding lessons and achieving zero or positive Progress 8 scores, or from potential NQTs. We have an NQT induction programme which is considered to be an exemplar of good practice. This is an excellent place for an outstanding MFL Teacher to develop their career.
