About the French International School

Established in 1964, the French International School (FIS) is the oldest international school in Hong Kong and was one of the first schools in Hong Kong to offer the IB. It is a dynamic educational institution, which welcomes over 2,700 students from around the world. It offers both French and international curricula and is the largest French school in Asia.

FIS currently operates four campuses, three of which accommodate students in the International Stream. The two primary schools, one surrounded by greenery in Jardine’s Lookout and the other in a brand new campus by the sea in Tseung Kwan O. The third is the secondary campus at Blue Pool Road situated at the heart of Hong Kong Island.

FIS is a private, not-for-profit organization. In the last five decades, it has grown from a small school with 35 students to one of the most renowned international schools in the region. There are more than 43 nationalities in the student body, speaking some 30 languages – it is a truly diverse and  multicultural learning environment.

FIS operates two streams, French and International.  The French Stream follows a French curriculum and has approximately 1600 students. The International Stream has a curriculum flow that truly represents its diverse international student body.  This starts with the fully accredited IEYC/IPC thematic curriculum in the primary school leading to IMYC in years 7 to 9.  Our senior students take a broad range of IGCSE courses in years 10 & 11 and graduate to the International Baccalaureate in years 12 and 13. It currently has approx. 1100 students registered.

Teacher of Spanish/French, International Stream Job Outline

Contract Term: Two years renewable from mid-August 2022

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a teacher of Spanish/French at FIS.  We are seeking an inspirational and energetic person to teach in the secondary school. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of academic success, innovation and development throughout their career. 

This is a period of growth for the Secondary section of the International Stream, with extra classes due to join us from August 2023. Our junior classes all take French at 4 different levels from beginner to native speakers, and Spanish is a popular option at foreign language level. IGCSE students all take courses in First Language or Foreign Language French and Spanish is also on offer at Foreign Language level.  At IB level, the school offers French Literature A, French B at HL and SL and French Ab initio at SL.  Spanish B is available at HL and SL.

We are seeking a teacher who will:

●       Have a deep knowledge of international curriculum including  IGCSE and IB, with IMYC or MYP experience an advantage 

●       Be well qualified with an internationally accepted degree and teaching qualification.

●       Be a dynamic, forward-looking professional with the experience and skills to contribute to the faculty;

●       Be an outstanding teacher who is passionate about learning and teaching and sets high expectations for every student;

●       Be able to work collaboratively with a team of teachers

Regarding the three primary schools, one is surrounded by greenery in Jardine’s Lookout and another campus is by the sea in Tseung Kwan O and the third is a beautiful campus in Chai Wan

FIS operates two streams, French and International. The French Stream follows the French national curriculum and has approximately 1700 students. The International Stream follows an English and Mathematics curriculum based on the English national curriculum and also the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC)  and International Primary Curriculum (IPC) leading to the International Middle Years Curriculum (IMYC) in years 7 and 8, then to IGCSE and finally the International Baccalaureate in Years 12 and 13. It currently has over 1000 students registered. In 2020/21 the international stream successfully went through the IEYC/IPC Accreditation process.
