Lilian Baylis Technology School is a mixed, 11-18, inner city school located in a new building at Vauxhall, London. We are a multicultural community school, which serves the local community, and we view this as one of our key strengths. We value the diversity of our school, and strive to ensure that our students feel represented, both at whole school level and within the curriculum.

In addition to this, we have outstanding facilities for our students and teachers, including laptops for all staff, banks of laptops that students can use, as well as software that enhances the curriculum, such as Vocab Express. electronic whiteboards and visualisers in all rooms, as well as laptops for all staff. In classrooms we have electronic whiteboards and visualisers too.

Our students are well behaved and ambitious, and they also value the school. All visitors to the school always comment on the calm and productive atmosphere of lessons. Our last OfSTED inspection stated we were ‘outstanding in all aspects’.

In addition, student progress at both GCSE and A Level is significantly above national average, and has been consistently so. In particular, we are highly effective at bridging the gaps between disadvantaged students and non-disadvantaged students.

At KS3 the Languages team has developed a highly praised curriculum that engages students through the use of relevant contexts. At KS4 all students study GCSE Spanish, and at KS5 we offer A-level Spanish. Spanish is a very popular subject at both Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.

We are looking for a well-qualified and enthusiastic Learning Mentor to join our Languages team, helping to support students in Spanish lessons, including providing support to our EAL students, as well as stretch and challenge to students who are native level speakers. The successful candidate will be a fluent Spanish speaker and have some experience of working with either EAL or SEN students in a school setting. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is at the beginning of their education career, or someone who is more established and looking for a fresh challenge. We offer a highly supportive and committed working environment within a culture of success. Our CPD provision is extensive and follows a research driven approach, which means that our staff are at the leading edge of professional practice.

Further details about the post, including how to apply, are on the TES jobsite. Go to www.tes.co.uk/jobs then insert Lilian Baylis into the keywords search. These details can also be found at www.lilianbaylis.com. Application forms must be completed online by 9am Friday 11th November 2022.
