Job overview

Introduction

Great Ballard School has a long tradition of teaching foreign languages, but the recent exciting announcement that the school will expand to include GCSEs has opened up a new opportunity for a qualified Spanish Teacher to join the school.  At present, pupils study French from Year 3, but Spanish will now be introduced and carried forward as an option at GCSE. Spanish will be introduced in September 2020, giving the appointee the opportunity to choose appropriate courses for both primary pupils and up to GCSE. While French will be taught in Year 8 for 2020-21, it will then be delivered in after-school clubs as required.  The ability to teach French is not a requirement, but it might provide scope for a larger weekly teaching load. Currently the expectation is that the successful candidate will be able to deliver 40% FTE spread over four or five days. The opportunity to develop a new subject up to GCSE offers an exciting challenge for someone with initiative and imagination.

Teachers at Great Ballard are the backbone of a dedicated team where the education, pastoral care and welfare of the children are paramount. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and ambitious professional, who can demonstrate a flexible approach and an ability to work on their own initiative, coupled with sensitivity and a commitment to the ethos of the school.

Please refer to the attached job description for full details of this role.

• Excellent oral and written English.

• Relevant Degree and evidence of commitment to continuing professional development

• Demonstrable experience at KS3 and KS4. • Confident use of ICT.
