About La Fontaine Academy
At La Fontaine Academy, you never stop learning. We’ll support you to grow and develop professionally – and trust you with autonomy in the classroom.
Our team vision
Our vision is to create an outstanding team of teachers who will provide our children with the very best education. We want every pupil to succeed academically while growing as confident individuals who will shape the world around them.
Join us, and you’ll be part of a great team. You will use your creativity to design a truly inspirational curriculum and shape outstanding learning opportunities. And, as the school grows over the next few years, we’ll support you to take on leadership responsibilities.
Educational leadership
To our minds, teaching is the greatest vocation in the world, and we are always seeking the best ideas to improve the way education works. We are creating a team that will develop models of good practice in creative teaching and learning and language teaching in the UK. We work to influence practices beyond our Academy and are actively involved in educational research, engage with current teaching and learning debates, and have articles by our team published.

Trust and autonomy
We value our staff and take professional development very seriously. All our staff must lead by example and demonstrate our values of Excellence, Respect, Collaboration, Responsibility, and Creativity.
In return for your high level of commitment, you will have excellent opportunities to grow and develop. We do not grade observations – we do not grade our teachers at all – and believe that trusting our teachers with the autonomy to improve creates a strong, vibrant staff culture.
Family ethos
Join La Fontaine Academy and become part of our family. Families rally round when times are tough, help each other out and are honest with each other. Every day, we eat a family lunch together with our pupils. We are always thinking hard about how we can become the very best for our colleagues, parents and pupils.
A UNICEF Rights Respecting School
We provide an environment where pupils feel safe, valuable and respected. We are a Rights Respecting School and create many opportunities for them to take leading roles throughout the school. This means our pupils become very confident and self-assured individuals.
STEP Academy Trust
We know that it is the exceptional quality of our staff that is key to our success. That’s why we’ll invest in your career and give you an unrivalled benefits package.
We are a growing family of primary academies that strive together for excellence. So we spread best practice, transfer staff to support partner academies, share specialist knowledge and consistently challenge the status quo. Giving you every opportunity to grow and develop in your role.
We want you to do well, that’s why we offer:
- Great opportunities for accelerated promotion – right across our nine-academy trust
- Fully funded leadership training courses (NPQML, NPQSL, NPQH)
- Fully funded Masters and PhD courses
- At least seven NQT development days each year
And with free lunch everyday, we’ll keep you well fed too.
We are always looking for talented professionals who share our mission. If you share our drive to improve the life chances of all children, we’d love to hear from you.
