Are you looking to make a difference to the lives of children and young people with SEND? Then you could be exactly the person we are looking for at The Bishop of Winchester Academy.

We are looking for a highly inspirational and motivational SENCO who is committed and passionate about meeting the needs of our students so they can achieve their potential. 

You will need to have a strong awareness of the relevant SEN legislation that underpins SEN within schools.  You will lead on the outstanding teaching and achievement of students with SEND.  You will promote inclusion of all students and their families within the academy community to ensure progress and meaningful access to the curriculum, facilities and enrichment activities. 

You will need to have excellent communication skills.  You will work closely with our leadership team, supporting and liaising with staff, parents and external agencies to ensure identified student’s needs are met.  

The successful candidate will lead the learning support assistant team to ensure high quality in-class support.  The position will require vision, expertise and commitment in the area of SEN.  The SENCO will need to have experience in multi-agency working and have a strong awareness of the relevant SEN legislation that underpins SEN within schools.

About The Bishop of Winchester Academy

The Bishop of Winchester Academy, based in Bournemouth, Dorset, is a Church of England secondary school that prides itself on its curriculum, governance and outstanding student behaviour. Students aged 11-18 experience teaching in new state-of-the-art buildings and have first-class resources at their fingertips. The school operates in an area where there are schools that select for entry on grounds of ability.

The mixed secondary school was opened in September 2010 as a sponsor-led academy. In September 2014, the Bishop of Winchester Academy extended its educational opportunities by opening its own sixth form.
