We are seeking to appoint an experienced, creative and inspirational SENCO to lead the Special Educational Needs provision. The role will require high levels of personal and professional commitment and the ability to work successfully as part of a team will be essential.

You will be an excellent practitioner with the National SENCO Award (or equivalent) and under the direction of the headteacher be responsible for determining the strategic development of the SEN policy and provision in the school, the day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability and provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies.

This role includes teaching and is split 25 hours teaching (including 3 PPA) and 25 hours SENCO across a two-week timetable.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SCHOOL
St. Thomas More High School is a voluntary aided Catholic comprehensive school for boys and girls aged 11 to 16, situated close to the centre of Crewe, in Cheshire. It is smaller than average; at present there are 604 pupils on roll with slightly more boys than girls . Most pupils are drawn from four parishes within the Shrewsbury Diocese, and the school serves a wide, diverse area that includes areas both of social deprivation and relative affluence.
