Job overview

Barnardiston Hall welcomes pupils with a wide range of abilities and talents including those who find some aspects of learning very challenging. They are supported in a specialist unit called “The Bridge” which is registered by CRESTeD as a dyslexia unit, but which also supports children with other SpLDs as well as physical, emotional and medical needs.

We are looking for a Special Needs Co-ordinator to lead a team of dedicated support staff in ensuring all children in the school reach their potential and are able to access the full curriculum whilst building their self-esteem and resilience.

The successful candidate will teach a number of 1:1 lessons each week, mainly in English and maths for pupils up to the age of 13, and may also teach class lessons in a range of National Curriculum subjects whilst having dedicated time to communicate with outside agencies and other schools on behalf of children who require extra support.

About Barnardiston Hall Preparatory School

Barnardiston Hall Preparatory School caters for girls and boys aged 2-13 years. Pupils are prepared for Common Entrance and entry to Independent and State Schools.

Set in 32 acres of grounds on the borders of Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire, the School offers individual all-round education for boys and girls, both day and boarding (weekly and full). High standards are achieved by small classes (average 14 children, maximum 20) who are taught by graduate and teacher-trained staff. There is a caring approach and close liaison with parents.

With the completion of a major new extension, we now believe that we offer some of the very best classroom facilities of any school in the area whilst our Pre-Prep Department enables younger children to learn in bright and spacious classrooms, in a traditional building full of character and charm.
