SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS COORDINATOR (SENCO)

Working closely with the Headmaster, Head of Teaching and Learning and Director of Studies, and other colleagues, in the strategic development of Twyford School’s Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) Policy, the successful applicant will oversee the day-to-day operation of that Policy and the Twyford Learning Skills Department, with the aim of helping SEND pupils reach their potential.
We are seeking to recruit a well-qualified and experienced teacher who is self-confident, energetic and resilient and who has the ability to enthuse and motivate others whilst being committed to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of pupils at all times.
Applicants will hold QTS and OCR Level 7 or equivalent together with a Patoss SpLD Assessment Practising Certificate and must have experience of working with children on the SEN register. The successful applicant is likely to have taught at KS2 and KS3 and have experience of leading a team, setting targets, monitoring, evaluating and recording progress of pupils. They will be fully conversant in the SEN Code of Practice, be experienced in implementing a wide range of strategies to help SEND pupils and be used to working with external professionals to ensure pupils attain their highest possible level.
