Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a highly effective and inspirational SENDCo to join our team. We have a strong and clear vision with an engaging curriculum which develops and celebrates the potential of each child.
 
George Eliot Primary School is housed in a state of the art building at the heart of our culturally rich community. 

The successful candidate will have a teaching commitment commensurate with SENDCo responsibilities and should have:

  • Qualified Teacher status with 5 years or more teaching experience
  • The National Award for SEN Co-ordination or a willingness to undertake training
  • Thorough knowledge of the new SEND Code of Practice
  • Experience of working with children with a range of different abilities and needs – SEND, LAC, Pupil Premium, EAL and G&T
  • The ability to support and overview the work of support staff working directly with pupils on the SEND register
  • The ability to work in partnership with parents and outside agencies (Educational Psychology, SALT, School Nurse, SEND department) to ensure children with SEND reach their full potential.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.

About George Eliot Primary School

George Eliot Primary School is a mixed, two-form entry state-maintained primary school with a nursery offering both full-time and part-time places. Its multicultural nature reflects the diverse community it serves. The school roll is around 400 and there are over 50 members of staff. 

 In September 2018, George Eliot Primary School federated with Robinsfield Infant School to form the Robinsfield George Eliot Federation.
