Job overview

ABC Teachers are working with an SEND school in Burbage who are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible in a permanent role.

You will be working in small class sizes (6-8) assisting teachers with the national curriculum and elements of life skills. Pupils range in age from 8-14. Students will have a range of special educational needs and disabilities.

You must have the ability to remain calm when dealing with sometimes demanding behaviour and will have empathy to the changing needs of different pupils. You must have excellent communication skills, both to build rapport with the students and to liaise effectively with other staff.

Required

· Level 3 Qualification (LSA/TA or equivalent)

· Up to date Child DBS which is also on the Update Service

· Experience working with Special Needs children in the last 2 years which can be referenced, ideally in a classroom.

· Be eligible to work within the UK

· Passion for supporting children with Special Needs

· Experience handling challenging behaviour

Desired

· Valid UK Driving License

· Team Teach Certificate

· Makaton / PECS Training

What to do next:

Candidates will be required to attend a face to face interview to register; we will need to gain two references either academic or professional and hold an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau disclosure (or be prepared to allow us to process one for you).
