Orchard Hill College (the College) and Orchard Hill College Academy Trust (the Trust) together form Orchard Hill College and Academy Trust (OHC&AT), a family of specialist education providers for pupils and students from nursery to further education.

The Link Secondary School provides specialist teaching and therapy for up to 60 children aged 11 to 18 years whose primary need is Speech, Language and Communication. Some young people may also have additional learning or sensory integration needs. A large percentage of young people also have a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

We are looking to recruit a Special Support Assistant with medical experience. You will need experience and a willingness to support the teaching and learning needs of students with ASD and SLCN.  In addition, you will  be required to ensure that care plans (provided by medical professionals) are implemented across the school, and be able to respond to student medical needs and conditions, and first aid requirements (with training). This will include;

• administering of medication, including emergency medication for seizure management or severe allergy/anaphylaxis

• administering enteral feeds

• supporting children with breathing difficulties including administering oxygen.

You will also have the experience and knowledge to supervise/advise staff on care plans and medical needs given by medical professionals.

The successful candidate will need to have significant medical experience.
