St Teresa’s Catholic College is looking for passionate and enthusiastic Specialist Instrumental Tutors to guide and direct students in our extensive Instrumental Music Program in the following areas:

- Strings (Cello, Violin, Viola, Double Bass)
- Woodwind (Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, Baritone Saxophone, Oboe)
- Brass (Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba, Euphonium, French Horn)
- Percussion (Drum Kit, Snare Drum Technique, tuned percussion)
- Guitar (Acoustic, Electric, Bass)
- Piano
- Voice

Your major accountabilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Delivery of the St Teresa’s Catholic College Instrumental Music program, linked to the contexts studied within Classroom Music
• The ability to demonstrate high quality interpersonal skills and current exemplary tutoring practice
• The ability to communicate with staff, students and parents in a timely and respectful manner
• Ability to motivate all students at differing levels of ability and implement appropriate adjustments and differentiation where required
• Teaching small group tuition within a family of instruments
• Working collaboratively with leadership teams, other Instrumental Tutors and Secondary Music Teachers to ensure the smooth running of school performances and events
• Identification of maintenance required on instruments and providing basic maintenance where possible
• Willingness to work outside regular school hours for performances and events
• Other administrative tasks as required

Student numbers determining lesson loads are subject to enrolment requests.

Essential Criteria:
• A Tertiary Qualification in Music, or currently studying Music at Tertiary level
• Experience in staging performance events
• Proficiency with Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Excel

Conditions:
• Successful applicants must have a valid “Working with Children” Blue Card

To be successful in this role you will:

  • have a commitment to and understanding of the ethos and traditions of Catholic Education;
  • hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement; and
  • be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.

Total Paid Hours (per wk) & Days Required: To be determined - based on tuition demand.

Salary Level, Range or Hourly Rate: Contractor's hourly rate

Employment Conditions:  Diocesan Catholic Education Employing Authorities in Queensland Single Interest Agreement


This position involves working with children.  The appointment of successful applicants will be subject to satisfactory employment screening for child related employment in accordance with the law.
