We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Specialist Intervention Teacher to work with a committed team of professionals in New River College Medical. We are looking for a teacher who have the ability to teach across the key stages and curriculum but lead on specialising in either English, Maths or humanities in a pupil’s home, local community, at the Hospital Classroom as well as the main School site. Therefore, we welcome applications from primary, secondary and middle school teachers.

NRC Medical works with KS1-4 pupils with complex social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, who are not able to attend school for medical reasons. We teach at various sites, Copenhagen Primary School, the Children’s Ward at the Whittington Hospital and in the homes of pupils too unwell to attend school. We are temporarily based at Copenhagen Primary School, due to the redevelopment of the Elthorne Road Site. Ability to engage children with SEMH is essential. Experience of teaching a second subject would be beneficial, a willingness to do so is essential.

New River College comprises of three pupil referral units in Islington (primary, secondary and medical), for pupils with social, emotional and mental health challenges (SEMH). We teach children and young people aged five to sixteen years old who have been permanently excluded or participate in our preventative programmes to address their behaviour, and children and young people with complex SEMH or medical needs.
