Grade D, £15,643 to £15,956 per annum, pro rated (subject to job evaluation)

£19,312 to £19,698 full time equivalent

35hrs per week (8am - 3.30pm with a half an hour for lunch)

Term time plus 1 week  (39 weeks per year)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Teaching Assistant to join Admirals Academy.

A Specialist Teaching Assistant (STA), works in both a classroom setting under the instruction and guidance of a Teacher, HLTA, Instructor or other senior staff.  The role has additional responsibility for the provision of dedicated and specialist pupil care for SEN, Play Therapy, individual specialist medical care or allocated pupil care programmes, to encourage learning and development activities that support curriculum delivery, teaching and learning outcomes, and positive pupil contribution.

Skills & Experience

An ideal candidate would have:

Level 2 qualification in both English and Maths of grade A*- C (or equivalent);

First Aid qualification or willing to undertake the training in the Academy;

Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding regulations;

The ability to communicate effectively with both adults and children, of all abilities;

The ability to engage with and motivate children;

To have flexibility and the ability to cover a variety of classes and age groups as required;

To have an effective use of ICT for learning;

The ability to work constructively as part of a team;
